Environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, has announced that Hermitage Park in 麻豆免费版 and Bute has been presented with a Green Flag Award. The accolade acknowledges quality green open spaces across the country that help to boost our nation's health and wellbeing.
The international Green Flag Award is administered in Scotland by Keep Scotland Beautiful and acts as a benchmark for recreational outdoor space. The award celebrates well maintained parks and greenspaces and supports the opportunities that they provide to enable exercise, improve mental wellbeing and provide safe areas for play 鈥 something that has been particularly important to everyone over the last couple of years. Across the UK 2,208 parks have achieved the award this year 鈥 with a growing number of them in Scotland.
Amongst the 2022 award winners are spaces managed by local authorities, community groups and various other organisations.

Receiving this prestigious international benchmark recognises all the hard work that has gone into maintaining and managing these precious green open spaces.

鈥淧arks attract a diverse range of visitors, all of whom look for different facilities and have different expectations. The Green Flag Award, and the collective expertise of managers and communities across Scotland, drives improvements through a framework which supports the management of our environment, our wildlife and the people who visit.

Councillor Ross Moreland, Policy Lead for Climate Change and Environment 麻豆免费版 at 麻豆免费版 and Bute Council said: 鈥淗ermitage Park is a fantastic community asset in the heart of Helensburgh and continues to provide a valuable green space for people to enjoy. We are delighted to receive Green Flag status for the third year running.
We are particularly pleased that judges praised the environmental management and green design features of the park. They include the energy efficient Pavilion and sustainable drainage systems that collects and filters rainwater. All these elements add to our overall efforts to tackle climate change and achieve net zero emissions in 麻豆免费版 and Bute by 2045.鈥
