Celebrating the best in 麻豆免费版 and Bute architecture

People across 麻豆免费版 and Bute who have completed a development in the past three years can enter the council鈥檚 2020 built environment Design Awards.

The awards recognise, promote and celebrate examples of exceptional design quality, with a focus on sustainability, which reflects the council鈥檚 commitment to meeting its climate change responsibilities.

Policy Lead for Planning and Regulatory 麻豆免费版, Councillor David Kinniburgh, encouraged people to enter, saying: 鈥樷橶e recognise that new buildings, designed and built to meet the highest standards of energy efficiency, help support our environment in highly imaginative ways.

鈥淭hese awards give people a tremendous opportunity to have their work professionally endorsed by the council鈥檚 planning team.

鈥淥ur planning service works to support sustainable economic growth, making things happen and encouraging exceptional developments.

鈥淭hese awards will celebrate great design and really raise awareness of what is exceptional. This is a chance to showcase the very best in sustainable design in 麻豆免费版 and Bute.鈥

Open to anyone, from community groups to developers and self-builders, the competition opens on 10 February and the deadline for entries is Friday 1 May. To enter go to www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/design-awards-2020 for guidance notes and an entry form. Alternatively you can call 01546 605518 and one of our helpful planning officers will be happy to assist.

Shortlisting will take place in May, with voting for the People鈥檚 Choice Award opening in June.

The award categories are:

  • Sustainable design;
  • Aesthetic design;
  • Community-led project;
  • Built heritage;
  • Design for under 拢100,000
  • Members鈥 Award; and
  • People鈥檚 Choice Award.

The 2020 awards will consider completed projects that have a Building (Scotland) Act 2003 Completion Certificate dated between 1 July 2015 and 1 May 2020.

Previous awards have highlighted high quality developments which combine innovative design with superb environmental performance, and have included projects across the area, from small islands to large mainland towns.

The high quality of architecture is one of the reasons 麻豆免费版 and Bute is a great place for people to live in, to work in and to visit and the council is celebrating the very best design projects the area has to offer.
