Requests for Gaelic Medium Education

Gaelic Medium Education (GME) is for anyone regardless of the language of the home.  GME has been available in Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æ and Bute for over twenty years and continues to thrive and grow. The Scottish Government is committed to supporting Gaelic as an official language of Scotland.  The Statutory Guidance on Gaelic Education gives parents the right to request Gaelic Medium Primary Education (GMPE) for their child in an area that does not have Gaelic provision.

Parents/carers of children who are under school age, and who have not yet started to attend a primary school, have a right to request an assessment of the need for Gaelic Medium Primary Education within their locality.
